Autumn held her breath as the angry jaws of the Zolom drew ever nearer and then passed the pair sitting off to the side. She noticed Gawain riding on top of the creature as it slithered past with all the speed of a moving train. He would probably die before he allowed this mission to fail so she decided she’d better find some way to help out.
The Zolom looked pretty rough. Autumn didn’t think the creature could take much more punishment and a corpse wouldn’t be worth as much to the science department. She picked up her radio and clicked the button, “GAWAIN ? It’s not ideal but I think we might need to hit this thing with some healing. I’m not sure it will make it to the city in one piece otherwise.”
Autumn spoke to Gwyar as he was currently in command but she hoped that Amanda de Valliere was listening too. She leapt to her feet as the tail end of the procession came into sight. She gave one last glance back at Leonhardt , her expression a mix of gratitude and regret, before running off to join Azure VI and Dart .
“Hey!” She beamed as she ran alongside the snake’s tail, “You both made it.”
