HERE PROUD ANGELS BATHE IN, THEIR WAGES OF BLOOD.
Janus was less than enthused about being back in Midgar. Amongst the people and the pleasantries. The irritations and annoyances. Too many questions, not enough actions. He absolutely loathed working with other people, unless it was his squad or someone who had proper information. Who didn't brown nose or waste his time with platitudes and meaningless frivolity.
He was needed out there, on the battlefield - not being locked up in a gilded cage of sorts working on paperwork and other such nonsense. The more he walked around Shin-Ra Headquarters the more he felt like he would go crazy. He was half tempted to stab his lance in the nearest person if they so much as ask him to sign another sheet of horrid paperwork.
Maybe he should go to the virtual combat room, relieve some stress? Sure it was a simulation but at least it would get his blood pumping. Anything was better than sitting around doing nothing. A hard glare was evident on his face as he walked with a gait that screamed: "bother me and die". Every person who he walked past cleared his path by a wide margin, so of course the one person who didn't, happened to be the one Janus disliked the most.
It was just like him to be found holed up in this metal labyrinth from Hell.
"Why am I not surprised to find you here... GAWAIN?" He stated more than questioned his voice was soft but held a steely edge to it. To the casual onlooker, he sounded irritated, stressed even. But for those who truly knew the man known as Einherjar, they would realize it was a tone of caution and wariness. He didn't trust the sunny smiled man known as GAWAIN at all.
The older male unnerved him, rightfully so. He was an oddity even amongst the odd bunch that was 1st Class SOLDIERS. Every single one in this group had some sort of quirk or issue - but GAWAIN took the cake.
The fact that Janus could not read what he was thinking just made him tenser. Janus thought himself a perceptive individual, yet he couldn't quite figure out what made the blond-haired SOLDIER tick. And that bothered more than any slip of paper or idle conversation could.
"The higher-ups making you their glorified gofer again?" He snidely intoned, actually unamused that a man of GAWAIN's talents was being wasted away at a desk. Something many people have stated. Yet the man pleasantly ignored. He'd seen the SOLDIER on the battlefield, during the Wutai war! It was one thing to say his skills were being wasted - but to actually SEE it, see him fight - it made the situation even worse.
That was why even with all his misgivings and issues with the fellow 1st Class he still respected him. And longed for a day that he could fight alongside the man once more - like the old days. Though, Janus pridefully kept these thoughts to himself. Like hell would he say such words aloud. He didn't want GAWAIN to get the wrong idea - as though Janus actually admired him! That was absolutely absurd after all. It was simply nostalgia, nothing more, nothing less.
Great, this place was definitely messing with him. He knew now, without a doubt - he had to get out of here. Before he went crazy from his own inner thoughts. While his turmoil grew on the inside he managed to quietly push it to the side in the attempt to focus once again. One thing was for sure was that he needed to leave - if only GAWAIN was willing to let him pass.
