About: Gabriel was born the son of a sailor who worked out of Junon and a woman from Costa del Sol. Oswald lived a childhood on the beach, and his family was more or less happy despite his father being on call constantly. The youthful Oz made a hobby of watching the Shin-Ra people come into port, and he was inspired by some of the SOLDIER members and decided that he would train hard to join them.
Oz failed out of his SOLDIER candidacy because he broke his ankle in training, but having trained for it all of his life he had nowhere to turn other than the infantry. He has a no nonsense personality, and handles the life of a grunt well. As a leader of a small group of infantrymen, Oz conducts tough training drills and pushes his men beyond that of other units. Oz's performance has been exemplary, although he is sensitive about his failure to become a SOLDIER. He usually displays this by being a perfectionist and trying to push beyond his station.
