Kalm wasn’t exactly known for its harbor, but on the outskirts of the city there was a little wooden dock where fishing boats occasionally dropped off the bounties of the sea. The ship that came today was a little different. Made from wood and adorned with ivory skills, the fisherman hailed from the bone village.
It had been quite a journey to avoid Shin-Ra’s security forces. Going from Costa del Sol to Junon and catching an airship would have been the best way to travel, but not one that would be easy to get the clearance or gil together for. Instead Fieldy and Choco took a dangerous trip that led them from one ship to the northern continent and then to the bone village, where he convinced the people there to ferry him across the sea to Kalm.
Luckily, this little harbor was trafficked so little that there were no security forces.
“Wark!” Choco said excitedly as land got closer and closer. A soft hand met his nose and patted it reassuringly.
“Almost there buddy,” Fieldy said. Already, he could see the city miles away in the distance. Worse was the lack of grass he could see all around it, it seemed like Kalm hadn’t quite lost its greenery, but the whole area around Midgar looked desolate. “Not sure it is the best place for a chocobo, you sure you want to come?” he asked.
“Kweh!” Choco said, nuzzling him.
“Alright, alright,” he said as the boat docked. “Thank you very much, friends!” he said to the bone villagers as he and Choco stepped off of the boat. A few local fishermen looked at the situation and gave them all odd looks.
“Just… stay out of our village, okay?” one of the bone villagers said. “Safe travels…”
Fieldy saddled up onto Choco’s back and they began walking towards Kalm. It would be good to go into town and get some rest for the day before he made his trip to Midgar in the morning. When Choco’s talons crossed into the cobbled stone streets Fieldy looked about the town. There were still a few hours to sunset, so he thought he might explore a bit before checking in at the inn.
