Appearance: Kaze is a slender young man of average height and weight with unkempt black hair. He wears a hooded blue cloak adorned in white symbols and a blue glove on his right hand. His left arm is clad in white and gold armor, essentially a shield which covers his whole left arm up to his heart and shoulder, while his right wields a collapsible shield with incredibly sharp points. Mako exposure has given his blue eyes a unique “glow” and left white markings across his face and body; the latter only visible when using materia.

About: Kaze is an aloof yet affable boy who, much like his ancestors, lives a nomadic lifestyle. While this was mostly limited to a forest situated on a plateau just southeast of Cosmo Canyon and the surrounding area, that changed after a powerful monster orphaned him. Since then he has trekked across the Cosmo, Nibel, North Corel and Corel Areas alongside his traveling companion and guardian Nanika.

A sentient wolf/lion-like mammal with a flaming tail, Nanika has always treated Kaze like one of her own. In the same vein he considers her cubs, who died alongside his parents, to be his brother and sister. Nanika, who he often calls ‘Nani’ or simply ‘Nan,’ is a close family friend, a fierce protector, and incredibly spry despite approaching middle age. Quite the proficient guardian, Kaze has only been in serious danger once while under her care.

And that was when they explored beneath Mount Nibel. Ambushed by monsters, Kaze was charged and knocked into a mako stream he was examining. Nanika dove in and quickly pulled him out, but the exposure had lasting effects. From then on white markings across his body began to appear when he used materia. Meanwhile her crimson fur had turned snow white, save for a few lines along her face and legs. And both their eyes now had a unique ‘“glow.” Strangest of all, the boy started to talk in his sleep; about weapons.

However, due to lacking any real skill with weapons, Kaze was given shields and instructed in defensive combat. Of course he enjoys learning most of all, especially about mako, the lifestream and materia. Intelligent despite the occasional obliviousness, he also cares little for money. Aware of his Cetra heritage, Kaze communes regularly with the planet; the ability to “speak” to his parents and siblings having helped him weather a rather tragic life.

Now, having arrived via boat from Costa Del Sol, Kaze and Nanika journey across the Wastelands toward Midgar. The curious boy guided by an ominous feeling; one he’s kept hidden from his overprotective guardian.
