Name: Takeshi Minazuki ~ Vengeance
Age: 51
Faction: Avalanche
Weapon: Knuckles ~ Greatswords
Appearance: Standing over six and a half feet tall, Takeshi’s jacked frame is a testament to his years of training and fighting. As befits his age, he sports white hair which is spiked on top and tied in a loose ponytail in the back. Below that is a thick, but well maintained, goatee. In between are pale green eyes which, despite his years of overexposure, do not glow (unless transformed).
About: Born to a family of renowned martial artists and swordsmen, Takeshi Minazuki (or simply “Tak”) was instructed and trained throughout his youth. And when war came to Wutai he was one of the first to join the fight against the megalomaniacal Shin-Ra. Warriors all, his family too enlisted immediately and some, like his parents, were even given elevated positions.
By the end of those long nine years he too had become a high ranking field officer in the Wutai army, but also lost many family members. The war kept him away from his wife too, the two having married mere months before the fighting began. But by its end they had children, a one and two year old, and he fought every battle for them and his wife.
However the war came to an abrupt and bloody conclusion when Shin-Ra completely overran their capital. Tak fought to the very end but inevitably succumbed to his injuries and fell unconscious. When he awoke, Takeshi, now 36, found himself a prisoner of war. Worse yet they’d been written off as casualties, so there was no hope of a rescue.
In truth they were deemed simply too troublesome for release, their captors assuming they’d all return home and join the “terrorist cells” operating in Wutai. Instead they’re logs were switched from “POWs” to “terrorists.” As a result they were tortured for information on former comrades who might’ve since joined one of the cells. After a few years though, their designation changed yet again.
This time they were logged in as “test subjects,” and were experimented on for years. Considered to be valuable guinea pigs, they were also usually the first human trials for any potential treatments. Better to work out the kinks on dead men before providing it to their precious soldiers. Sooner or later, over the next ten years of experimentation, they grew to miss the torture.
Eventually the repeated heavy doses of mako left him in a coma. Puzzled why his body refused to mutate like the others, it appeared as stubborn as the man himself had remained throughout his “enhanced interrogation” period, the scientists continued experimenting on his unconscious body. What they could not understand however was that the mako was acting by a higher will than their own.
By the time the Planet awakened him, Takeshi was suspended in a vat of mako. And all around him were identical vats, many filled with former comrades. All at various stages of mutation. Overcome with a fiery rage, his heart burned for revenge, and the Obsidian Weapon answered. Transforming into Vengeance the now old soldier rampaged his way to the exit, though the only thing Tak remembered was waking up on his knees, outside. And fire.
Immediately he returned home to Wutai, desperate to see his wife and children. But what he found in his house was someone else’s family; a widow who had remarried to the only father her children ever knew. In the end Tak remained in the shadows, unwilling to disrupt their lives. His return would only confuse the children and make his beloved feel guilty for doing the right thing. After all, he was dead.
Now 51 years old, and the host of Gaia’s Vengeance, Takeshi has made his way to Midgar for the first time. Convinced his family and Wutai, or the world for that matter, won’t know peace until Shin-Ra is crippled or destroyed, he comes to offer aid to Avalanche. Surprisingly, despite everything he’s been through, or perhaps because of it, Tak still seems the same boisterous, challenge seeking man’s man he’s always been.
However revenge is never far from his mind.
