Schwarz was sitting on a bench outside of the Shin-Ra building's front entrance, dressed in his black suit that was standard and the black hat on his head causing his eyes to be hidden by the shadow. A small light glowed from before his mouth as he inhaled a drag from his cigarette. Sitting hunched over, his elbows resting on his knees, he watched the people who were packing up for the night and going home leave, those who had overnight shifts were beginning to shuffle in towards the buildings entrance. Each of them dressed in their top notch suits with the Shin-Ra emblem pin worn on their lapels.
He would watch in silence as the smoke billowed from his mouth from every exhale, causing the smoke to hit the brim of his hat and roll off before ascending off into the sky slowly. His eyes watching every detail he could. It wasn't often they wouldn't have someone off on an assignment, he figured it might be his night to just take it easy for now. "I should just go off to a bar and blow off some steam.." he muttered to himself, carefully balancing the cigarette's filter against his lips.

A stocky woman with dark asymmetrical hair and mako blue eyes came jogging around the side of the building with a german shepherd at her side. The dog’s tongue flopped to one side with each bound as he struggled to keep up with the woman’s pace. She was in grey sweatpants and a racerback shirt that had been intentionally torn to expose her toned midriff. The shirt read HFIL in big blue letters across her chest.
Thalia slowed to a halt as she neared the bench but the dog continued past, turning around and trotting back around the other side as he realized he’d bypassed his trainer. He sat on his hind legs in front of the stranger, panting hard.
“This seat taken?” Thalia asked as she plopped down on the other side of the bench and pulled out a water bottle. She took a big swig for herself before pouring some into her hand so the dog could lap it up eagerly. She wiped her hand on the leg of her pants before holding it out to the Turk. “I think I've seen you around. I’m Thalia.”
Quiet was feeling unusually chipper, especially given his proximity to the Shin-Ra headquarters and his, ah, disposition towards those within it. He was dressed differently to his usual attire, a white leather jacket pulled over a taut blue teeshirt, better displaying his impressive musculature than his usual overcoat and crop-top. On his head he wore a black beanie, partially covering the scar that extended from the ridge of his nose, and dark aviator shades to disguise the mako-electric glow of his icy stare.
He leaned against a wall opposite the guard outpost, his sword resting against the wall beside him, watching the people of Shin-Ra come and go through security checks, most heading home for the night. They were people, yes. A part of him felt guilt that he hated them so. But they were complicit. They were part of the problem, the big machine that had killed his family and was destroying the planet.
When the time was right, he could not be merciful. The boy, who was capable of kindness and forgiveness, was gone. All that remained was Quiet.
He shakes his head, dislodging this darkness. Ever since he'd been transfused with... whatever was in that bootleg SOLDIER serum, the fury in him had grown and grown, a calamity in his DNA. He made a mental note to keep these mental slips in check. He might be a man on dark path, but (for now at least) he was still a man, capable of joy, love, humour.
He eyed an interesting duo on the other side of the security post, settling down on a bench. Particularly of note to the bulky fighter was the woman; even at this distance, he could make out the mako-glow from her eyes. A true SOLDIER.
A smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He'd not been planning on hanging around for long, was going to go hit up a bar. But now his interest was piqued. He'd not encountered a SOLDIER in a long time, and certainly didn't recognise this one. SOLDIERs fascinated him; generally, they had more autonomy than most in Shin-Ra's military, and he had theorised that some might end up being a weak link in the chain in terms of their loyalty to the Company.
Glancing up from beneath the brim of his hat, he saw the woman who had spoken before she took a seat next to him. Pushing himself to sit upright, with his back against the back of the bench, he reached out his hand to grasp her's and gave a proper hand-shake. He wasn't the type to be rude to someone who was being polite, especially to someone he just met and knew he worked for the same company for. "Wouldn't be surprised if you had. I'm Schwarz, Department of Administrative Research. And by your eyes, you're a member of SOLDIER. It's a pleasure to meet ya. How's it treating ya?" He said with a smirk on his face, carefully inhaling the cigarette, causing the amber light to glow before dimming as he exhaled another puff of smoke. By now his cigarette was about half burnt through, but a large chunk of ash seemed to balance as it seemed ready to crumble and fall at any moment. He carefully took the cigarette from his mouth and flicked the trail of ash free from the cigarette, causing it to fall to the ground.
His eyes caught notice of the dog that had been following her, and it made him keep his smirk. "Nice dog. Seems loyal and healthy. You must take really good care of him." He said, letting a small tone of him being impressed slip through his voice. He carefully held his hand out some, allowing the dog a chance to sniff his hand if it wanted to. He did have a bit of a spot for dogs, but he didn't try to keep one himself for fear of not having enough time to take care of them. That thought made it's way back into his head as he glanced at the german shepherd.

“You guessed it.” Thalia confirmed with a grin as he shook her hand. She leaned back in her seat with a sigh, “It’s a good time… I suppose you could say it suits my active lifestyle.” She’d been 3rd Class for a while but she didn’t mind too much. She liked her job. It was simple. A promotion would only add more responsibility.
“What about you? How’s the Department of Administrative Research?” The SOLDIER chuckled. If she didn’t know any better she’d have thought that administrative research sounded really boring. She did know better though and suits or armour they were both trained killers.
“Ajax is a mighty warrior in training. We’re off the clock now though so you can pet him if you want to.” She watched Schwarz out of the corner of her eye as she surveyed the area. Her first opinions of people had a lot to do with whether Ajax liked them or not. So far he passed the test.
She hasn’t noticed the other man hanging around just yet as she turned to Schwarz. "So... You got any plans for the evening?"
"Oh, just the usual jobs. Look into things, report back, get involved where I need to. Then sending that suit off to the cleaners when I get back. I should probably just switch to the black shirt, blood wouldn't show as easily." He said with a smirk at his last part of the statement. With being given permission and seeing that Ajax didn't mind him, he reached behind his ear and began gently scratching. He knew it was a favorite spot of most dogs, and went from gently scratching behind the ear to a top of the head. It didn't take long for him to respond to her question if he had any plans. He was currently off and awaiting the next assignment.
"Nope. I don't have any plans tonight. I think this would be the first time a woman has ever asked me that question." He said as he tilted his head a bit curiously at that. "What about you? Gonna be heading off to meet up with someone later?" He asked, carefully dropping his cigarette off to the side before stepping on it with his boot to extinguish it, turning on the ball of his foot to make sure it was out. He was getting a feeling in his gut, but that sort of feeling came with the territory of his work. He wondered if he was being watched, but there were too many people around to be sure, besides it could just be the employees looking at him. Most of them knew a man in a black suit was someone to be avoided, and even more to be worried about if they were to be questioned by one. He chose to ignore the gut feeling for now, maybe work was making him paranoid he thought.

Thalia smirked as the man beside her started complaining about getting blood stains out of his white button ups. She’d never thought about how rough the Turks had it. Always having to look so composed. His comments just confirmed some things she already suspected about the man. She wouldn’t be fooled by a nice suit. Deep down he was just like her; a wild thing in a cage just waiting to be unleashed.
“Only if you say yes.” Thalia responded casually to his inquiry about her plans. She turned her body towards him, bringing one leg to rest in the space between them and hanging her arm over the back of the bench. He admitted this was the first time a woman had asked him that question but he’d have to get used to that sort of thing if he was going to run with her. Thalia wasn’t about to waste her time waiting for someone to ask her out. “There’s a bar I know of with cheap beer and a dart board. You look like you’ve got a pretty good aim. We can see who’s better.”
Ajax, who had melted into Schwarz hand, suddenly sat bolt upright with his snout elevated as he began to sniff the air. Thalia’s eyes drifted to her periphery and she glanced over her shoulder at a man that was watching them from a little ways away but she didn’t turn her head all the way. Her brow furrowed as she locked eyes with the Turk in an attempt to convey the message that they were being watched.
The SOLDIER pulled a previously concealed knife from her shoe and clutched it to her midsection to hide it from view of the onlooker. She didn’t recognize him and maybe that was just her poor memory but she was starting to get a bad vibe.
Quiet found himself smiling as the two began to make a move. He tilted away from them, turning instead to face the street. The relaxed nature of his posture was intended to hide his interest, but if either of the individuals were worth their salt they might have already noticed his eyes on them.
Should they leave, Quiet would follow. At a distance. For now.
