Thalia Melpomene and Janus Jaeger like this

Atop the highest floor of Shin-Ra HQ, in the dead of the night, a small group of extraordinary men and a single extraordinary woman were currently being forced to put in an extraordinary amount of overtime, all of them called in to work, again, in the dead of the night, chosen as the best of the expendable best to see one particular mission through to the end.
As they all loaded into a large military helicopter standing atop the executive's exclusive Helipad, they found one of the seats inside already occupied by Lieutenant Colonel GAWAIN, the blonde man furiously typing away at his laptop before glancing up at the group, glancing shortly back at his laptop before moving to stand up, nodding at the group.
"Ladies and gentlemen." He greeted, saluting. "I salute your commitment to Shin-ra and the security of Midgar; thank you, truly, for being here." Not that any of them, himself included, had a choice in the matter.
Roll call! Damian Summers , Thalia Melpomene & her hound, Janus Jaeger and Sergeant Oswald & his ever faithful grunts all loaded hopefully efficiently into the large flying vehicle, the mission command's eyes briefly moving over each one of them before he nodded, reaching for a remote on his side while they got as comfortable as was possible in such a ride before clicking on it, a flatscreen across from them lighting up shortly after, its feed swiftly linking to the blonde's laptop. Reaching for a comm, GAWAIN spoke unto it, giving the order.
"We are ready. Go." With the order given, the Helicopter took to the air.
It was time he briefed them on the task that awaited.
"Let us get to the subject matter without further preamble. Seven days ago, a large unidentified residence appeared approximately 150 kilometers north of Midgar." He said as he tapped a button on the remote.
The screen flashed before briefly showing to them all a map of Midgar and it's surrounding area, their current destination clearly marked by a red path. A short moment later, it switched to the next diapositive, the image changing to what appeared to be a photograph of an absolutely gargantuan mansion in the middle of the wasteland; the quality was spotty, and it seemed to have been taken in the middle of a sandstorm by what must have been some sort of flying drone.
"It's origins remain a complete mystery to us as of yet. This was the last image one of our drones obtained before we lost all contact with it. All other drones have suffered similar fates. It is believed the bizarre sandstorm that has been surrounding the abode since it appeared might be behind it. We lost contact with all teams sent to scout out the residence, and those sent to infiltrate met similar fates."
He paused.
"The use of missiles and other military grade weaponry yielded no results upon the residence. As such, command has seen fit to deploy its most elite of forces to deal with the problem." He pointed a finger at them. "That is to say, you, SOLDIERs." He said, before turning to look cheerily at Oswald and his group. "Your squad will be assisting Captain Thalia directly, Sergeant Oswald. I look forward to seeing you work together as efficiently as you did before." He said cheerily, before turning to face the other SOLDIERs.
"Unfortunately, I'll not be joining you directly on the field this time. I've instead been given the task of supervising the mission as command." He said, folding his arms behind back. "Nonetheless, I trust you all to carry out this mission in a swift, efficient manner fitting of your stations, SOLDIERs."
"We'll be arriving to your drop off point within half an hour. I trust you've all come prepared already- so I invite you to try and relax in the meanwhile. Just try not to think of the hundreds of troopers who disappeared in the past 7 days, okay?" He suggested cheerfully as he slowly closed his laptop and turned off the screen, moving to take his seat and crossing one leg over the other.
It wasn't long before they arrived, a minute or so later than anticipated- and a good couple o' hundreds of metres away from their goal.
"Any closer and we risk ending up as the drones mentioned earlier." He reminded them while smiling, before swinging open the doors for them, standing aside as the wild winds of the standstorm whipped about around them violently, entering the helicopter. "Now get moving swiftly, please! Before my jacket gets any more sand in it."
Oh well; they were trained military personnel. Get to it already, soldiers!
