It was the early morning, just about the time that the main shift would begin for the day. As the night shift began to hastily pack their things, every employee would move with a vigor they hadn't displayed during their work. Tak had witnessed how recent murmuring across the rumour mill had permeated a stressful mood across the workforce. Their hasty exit was understandable, all things considered. It was why he was here after all, and had been at it since the evening before. Compared to the night shift leaving, the day shift lumbered along dispassionately; affirming that uncertainty surrounding the safety of this place was indeed a subject on their minds. Still, that steely number '08' watched over the reactor workers with oppressive stoicism; driving the technicians along to get the day's work started.
Tak observed this changing of the guard from the entrance to the reactor, recalling the events which led to his own arrival. An ominous call was received at 4 PM, not long after a successful meeting with the president and just before he was ready to clock out for the day. A meeting between community organizers and stakeholders was called at 7pm, meant for military and civilian personnel to make sense of how Mako Reactor 3 decided to terminate its workforce. The meeting ended just before midnight once Tak made the decision to take point on this investigation. His journey had brought him to the only train line running at that hour, where he would call his back up for this initial investigation. Two members of his team would receive the following call at midnight, and it would end the same way for both.
"We have a case: Mako Reactor 8 at dawn. Bring coffee." The executive paid no mind to any objections from the other end of the call. He didn't give either Turk a chance, cutting the communication off at the moment his message had been relayed. He would then glance back at his PHS contacts to confirm who was called. Autumn Nevada and Dart. First time working with both. Good, he can have them do most of the leg work.
Almost six hours had passed since that phone call and Crow had set himself to performing all of the preliminary information gathering to get it out of his team's way. A lot of it was done on the commute there, a train at that hour ends up taking every stop on the way and each one was a footnote in the Turk's mind. Getting off the train, he scrutinized every detail of his disembarking and the entrance to the factory. The night foreman provided a tablet with all of Mako Reactor 8's logistical data, where Tak's nose remained buried until it came time for the shifts to change. Observing the workers as they would set up for the day could be valuable information and a reasonable break from data analysis.
"What a mess." He lamented to himself about the mountain of work he was in for. Almost a day of work was already put in before the sun had even come up, and the idea of that nonsense had just hit him. The aggravation that was felt in that moment, was taken out on his tie as he tugged at the knot to loosen it. He needed some refueling before he could tackle this issue again. Morning shift began setting up just before dawn, meaning his team would show up at any moment. As the crowd of workers dissipated, Tak began searching. He wanted to find his team, but more importantly; he needed to find his coffees
